Ring town

Bayway and the Nature Center side

The Brownwood subdivision sank into the bay after the 1983 hurricane and the city turned the peninsula into a 500-acre nature center. That history is the whole neighborhood: quiet streets, the water on three sides, the Wetlands Center on the way in, and Bayland Park's boat ramps where the town launches on Saturday mornings. Nurture Nature, the birding festival, is Saturday, October 10 this year — the one weekend the peninsula gets crowded.
