110 West Texas, in the 1920s F.W. Woolworth that still shows its upstairs bones. The Art League bought it in 2008 and turned it into the Art Center of Baytown: member exhibitions, classes, the Chevron Phillips Upcycle Art Challenge, a holiday gift gallery locals actually shop, a room you can rent for 75 people.
Gallery hours have been running Thursday–Saturday, often 11–5, with Saturday stretching later during a show. Older listings said Tuesday–Saturday 10–4. Call (281) 427-2222. Membership meetings are 2 p.m. the third Sunday, September–May, usually with a demo, free to walk in. If you want to understand that downtown is not just murals, start here, then step next door into Art Alley.
