Lynchburg

Ferry, battlefield views, the edge of the story.

Lynchburg sits on the ship channel where a ferry has run since the Republic. HCTRA runs it now — not TxDOT — free, weekdays 4:30 a.m.–8 p.m., weekends 11 a.m.–6:30 p.m., closed major holidays. Ride it. Look toward the monument. Understand that the Texas Revolution ended a few miles from what is now a nature center parking lot. Then go eat. Burnet Park at 1704 Burnet Drive is the grassy wait. San Jacinto itself is in La Porte — still the correct second half of the morning.

Parking. North landing at Burnet Park. Don’t block the ferry queue.
