David G. Burnet Park

1704 Burnet Drive, at the north landing of the Lynchburg Ferry. Picnic, let kids run, watch the channel while you wait for the boat. Named for the Republic’s first president, which is the kind of on-the-nose Baytown does without irony.

This is not a destination with a gift shop. It is the correct 20 minutes before or after the free ferry, with a sightline toward San Jacinto. Weekend ferry does not start until 11 a.m. — the park is still the wait, just later. Parks desk: (281) 420-6597.

Local tip. Don’t block the ferry queue. Weekend boats start at 11.
