Full-time jobs in Baytown

The steady ones — benefits, a schedule, a pension if you pick right — as opposed to the turnaround economy that fills the hotels and empties them.

Where full-time actually lives

  • The plants' own payrolls. Operators, maintenance, lab techs, engineers, security, the office. ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips and Covestro each post on their own careers pages, linked on the employers page with today's counts; the contractors' full-time crews (the nested maintenance contracts, not the turnaround waves) post on theirs.
  • Mont Belvieu's hub. Enterprise, Energy Transfer, Targa — operators and technicians for the fractionators and storage, full-time and shift-based.
  • The hospital. Houston Methodist Baytown is the largest non-industrial employer in town: nursing, allied health, support, administration; ninety-plus openings on a normal day.
  • The districts and the college. Goose Creek CISD posts two hundred-plus at a time; Barbers Hill, Crosby and Huffman smaller; Lee College faculty and staff. Teachers, aides, bus drivers, cafeteria, custodial, IT, HR — the full-time roster of a small city.
  • The city and the counties. Police, fire, utilities, parks, water treatment, the library, code enforcement, planning; the county precincts' road crews and constables.
  • The big retailers. H-E-B, Buc-ee's and Walmart run full-time with benefits and say so; the managers came up from part-time.
  • Logistics. The distribution centers on I-10 and the port-side trucking firms — drivers, dispatch, warehouse leads.
  • The hotels and restaurants — management full-time; the rest by the hour.

What full-time pays for here

Health insurance, which in Texas is the difference; a 401(k) or the state's pension for the districts and the city; paid time off; and at the plants, the shift differential and overtime that put an operator's household in a new-build in Mont Belvieu. We don't print wage figures we can't source; the postings do, and the employers page links them.

How to read a posting

"Nested contractor" means a full-time job inside the fence with a contractor's badge, not the plant's — real, steady, and a step toward the plant's own payroll. "Rotating shift" means twelve hours, days and nights on a fixed pattern. "Turnaround" means weeks, not a career; the work page explains.

Questions people ask

Which companies in Baytown hire full-time with benefits? The plants, the hospital, the districts, the city, H-E-B, Buc-ee's, Walmart; the employers page has fifty with links. Is the hospital hiring full-time? Its careers page count is in the table; most are. Do the plants hire directly? Rarely at the entry level; through the contractors and Lee College's pathways, then internally.
