Thompson’s Fish Camp

Bait, a double ramp, and the Tri-City Beach launch. Not on Bayway.

Open · 5:30am–6:30pm· Verified Sep 2026

Thompson’s Fish Camp

213 Simms Road, zip 77523, at the end of Tri-City Beach — not the Bayway waterfront, not next to the Hyatt. We had it in the wrong neighborhood. This is the east-side fish camp: live and dead shrimp, tackle, a double boat ramp onto Galveston Bay, a cleaning station, a lot you can leave a truck in.

Hours run early. 5:30 a.m. is the point. They have been listed as late as 6:30 p.m.; some weekday listings close at 5:30. Call (281) 427-2300 before you trailer over in the dark. Ownership has changed; the ramp is still the reason people know the name. Cash for the launch fee is still a good idea.

This is not Bayland Park’s Buddy McBride ramps on 146 Business. Different water, different drive.

  • live bait
  • double boat ramp
  • Tri-City Beach
  • early open

Local tip. Off SH 146 / SH 99 onto Tri-City Beach Road, then Simms to the end. Call before a 5:30 a.m. launch — new ownership has been late.

Boil, vermicelli, and butterfly shrimp on north 146. Next to Walmart, better than that sounds.
